Quiet Riot - One Night In Milan - Englische Originalversion

quietriot onenightinmilanThe multi platinum album ”Metal Health” made a success after release in 1983 and QUIET RIOT became an overnight sensation. No wonder half of the setlist comes from this masterpiece, including the classic "Cum On Feel The Noize". During this concert with much eighties-material, we find it mixed with both nineties and present. From the latest "Road Rage" (2017) a couple of tracks are performed, of which "Freak Flag" is cool with pumping drums and a strong supportive bass. A positive club gig feeling emerges with these americans at Frontiers Rock Festival in Italy, recorded in April 2018.

Some changes have taken place, among other things the band has a new singer since 2017. A few years ago the young singer, guitarist and songwriter James Durbin did a music project together with Alex Grossi who handles the electric guitar very skilful in QUIET RIOT. The acquaintance led to Durbin now using his excellent voice capacity in the just mentioned group. Furthermore he acts experienced on stage, bringing confidence and ensures that the show does not fall flat to the ground. Once or twice, if you just listen to the album, you might wonder what he is doing. While instead watching the video, there is no doubt and his little dramatic actions seems obvious.
Sadly he sometimes fought in vain, when the audience response were far too weak. However, his musicianfriends on stage got triggered and towards the end the bassist Chuck Wright was full of energy.
Wright has been a bandmember already since the eighties and behind the drums we find the original member Frankie Banali, still going strong.

Unfortunately, I have to say that after a while into the concert comes the feeling of another day at work and I am afraid that maybe it will be one in the row of all concerts.
But in "Condition Critical" something happens. Actually I believe that it depends on the material itself when everything immediately gets much better.
Following piece "Thunderbird" was written by Kevin DuBrow as a tribute to his friend Randy Rhoads, the guitarist he started QUIET RIOT together with 1973. When Rhoads died in a plane crash in 1982, DuBrow rewrote the final verse. This fine tune was recorded and ended up on the hit record "Metal Health" the following year. For the first time in history, that melody is now performed in a concert with piano at the beginning, just like the original version. The right feeling is expressed by invited Alessandro Del Vecchio (keyboarder in HARDLINE among other things).
First a silent minute is held to honour not only Randy, but also Kevin who passed away in 2007.
Together with "Party All Night" I can say that these three songs happen to be better just by listening.

The fantastic drummer really presents his musical energy in "The Wild & The Young" and Chuck gives us a cool riff on bass guitar. Wright then fully enjoying in "Let's Get Crazy" where he seems to have a lot of fun and moves around all over stage. Maybe a bit too long track on CD, but so great to see on DVD.
The whole show has good color- and light setting. Additionally it is filmed in real time and therefore gives us an authentic experience.

Details such as a black and white striped microphone stand can be found here. As well as their signature, the face mask in metal, which the vocalist is wearing in the grand final. A gentle and trembling cymbal sound gives us an expectant atmosphere, along with a slight teasing bass guitar pulsating in the air. When Alex begins to play the guitar the frontman removes the mask from his face, bites it and starts singing "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)". Durbin goes all in by falling down on the scene floor, then singing for a while, then jump up and put on the mask once more.
Again we find excellent finger maneuvers from one of the most skilled bassists I have ever seen.
A late-awakened audience hums further afterwards, as they suddenly do not want the concert to end. (Anna)
